Bounkhoune honored as February Employee of the Month

It is with pleasure that we honor Rosa Bounkhoune, Lead Teacher in the Early Care and Education department, as the February 2020 Employee of the Month.

Rosa was one of the first hires for the Lighthouse for Children Child Development Center as a Master Teacher in March 2016. She assisted in opening the first preschool classroom in April 2016, as well as setting up the environments of all the preschool classrooms. Due to her natural leadership, she was promoted to Lead Master Teacher, where she is responsible for additional duties, such as supporting the other preschool teachers and sustaining curriculum alignment across the classrooms.

Rosa is always motivating her students and staff. She provides support to the AmeriCorps students, as well as students from colleges who are completing their child development practitioner hours. At one point or another, many staff and parents have commented how instrumental Rosa is to the Lighthouse.

Rosa is also creative, always bringing the natural environment into the classroom for the children to experience. Her high student scores are evident that children will excel when they leave the Lighthouse and enter school.

“I know when they go to kindergarten, they will be socially ready. They can take their skills I taught them to the next level,” said Rosa of her 21 students, ages three to five years old. “I love my job because I teach young minds.”
