Count Play Explore

At Malloch Elementary in the Fresno Unified School District, TK teacher Sherry Nobles is showing that learning math can be fun and engaging for even the youngest learners. Through the Count, Play, Explore initiative, students are discovering the joy of math, science, and computer science by grouping, counting, and exploring through play.

Led by the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, this statewide program aims to build confidence in math from birth through third grade—helping both children and adults overcome negative attitudes toward the subject. By making math interactive and joyful, educators are creating a foundation for lifelong learning and success in school and beyond.

Learn how Fresno County is leading the way in early education through creative teaching, community partnerships, and a shared commitment to helping every child thrive.
