Chanel Ocampo, fourth grade, is a force on the Golden Charter Academy campus and has been since she joined its learning community last year. You will always find her asking deep questions of her teachers and her peers in class. Daily, she’s prepared to fully engage in her learning, first to arrive and always ready.

Chanel demonstrates a love for learning in everything she does from helping choose great books for classroom libraries, to volunteering in the cafeteria, tutoring younger students, to the zeal she puts into her presentations of learning at the end of her quarterly units of study. She exceeds standards of performance in mathematics, English language arts, civics and science. She’s an avid reader who’s always looking to expand her perspectives and understanding. She’s always thinking about solutions to complex human issues.

Chanel is dependable, compassionate, willing to push herself out of her comfort zone, trustworthy, thoughtful, mindful and conscious of her impact. She’s always making the world better than she found it -- all remarkable characteristics for a person her age. And look out because she’s only just beginning!
