Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) is a federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in all educational programs and activities, including athletic programs. No person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity operated by the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools ("FCSS"). Title IX protects all participants in FCSS' educational programs and activities, including students, parents, employees, and job applicants. The FCSS does not discriminate on the basis of sex. Discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment and sexual violence.

The FCSS also does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ancestry, religious creed, age, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, veteran status, gender, gender identity, gender expression or sexual orientation, or any other basis protected by federal, state or local law, ordinance or regulation, in its educational program(s) or employment.

No person shall be denied employment solely because of any impairment which is unrelated to the ability to engage in activities involved in the position(s) or program for which application has been made. Upon the job applicant providing notice to the FCSS, a reasonable accommodation will be provided to applicant so he/she may participate in the hiring process.

Please refer to the FCSS non-discrimination policies and the following specific policies and procedures regarding sexual harassment.
