Message from the Superintendent

Welcome to the New Year, always a time of great expectations and goals for the months to come. On Jan. 8, it was my honor to be sworn in as the 21st Superintendent of Schools for Fresno County. Just as many of you made resolutions, so have I. But unlike the standard self-promises of fitness or travel, mine are the visions I have for the students of our community – to strive to ensure each one has the opportunity to receive a quality education.

Education is so much more than the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. We live in a county that is a melting pot of diversity from ethnicity, to religion and economic status. As your Superintendent of Schools, it is my duty to be a champion for all children by advocating for career technical education, the arts and early education, as well as addressing the issues of poverty, intervention, civility and homelessness.
