Work with the Board of Education

Addressing The Board

It is the desire of the Board of Education to do its part in seeing that the children of the County receive a quality education. The Board welcomes citizens’ views on subjects related to areas under its jurisdiction. Regular meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month in the board room at 1111 Van Ness Avenue in Fresno. All board meetings are open to the public and citizens are encouraged to participate. Closed sessions may be called for matters of a sensitive nature. The public is excluded from these sessions.

Speaking To Items On The Agenda

If a citizen knows in advance he wishes to speak to an item on the agenda, he should notify the Board President or the Superintendent at the beginning of the meeting. However, a citizen may give his viewpoint on any matter under consideration by seeking recognition from the President before he calls for a vote.

Speaking To An Item Not On The Agenda

A visitor may speak to a County Office related matter not on the agenda upon permission of the Board President under the public input portion. No action may be taken on this item until the next regular meeting.
