Superintendent’s Superstars: Teens That Care serving the community

Teens That Care is a non-profit group created to empower high school students to serve the community, learn how to bring strength and hope into the lives of the oppressed and marginalized in the community and build a foundation of philanthropy they will carry with them after they graduate. TTC started with 40 members and has steadily grown over the past four school years to 99 teen members, with a total of 156 teens currently in or successfully graduated out of the program. These teens have already volunteered more than 2,225 hours since June 1, 2021, and more than 10,925 hours total in just over three years. This year TTC is on target to hit nearly 5,000 hours!

On Aug. 9, 2018, TTC kicked off its first volunteer opportunity at Frank H. Ball Park alongside the Police Activities League and the Southwest Police Officers. From that first partnership with PAL, many great partnerships followed, including: Bringing Broken Neighborhoods Back to Life, Webster Elementary, Reality Tour, Kases for Kids, Ronald McDonald House, Every Neighborhood Partnership, Amazon, Naomi’s House, Cake4Kids, Wreaths Across America and Mothers Against Drunk Driving, as well as many more
