May Superintendent’s Superstar shines

Madeleine Fischer is a senior at Edison High School. Her Academic Decathlon team took first place at this year’s Fresno County competition with Madeleine also receiving the Dean’s Medal. She was awarded three medals at the state competition. She has competed in the Academic Decathlon every year while in high school.

In addition to her Academic Decathlon honors, Madeleine founded the school’s Yoga Club and has served as both president and vice president; served as treasurer, vice president and president of the schools’ Gay-Straight Alliance Club; worked to construct the main competition robot for the Robotics Club; and is an Advanced Placement Ambassador to provide support for students, teachers and parents in the program. Madeleine has taken seven advanced placement courses prior to her senior year.

Outside of school, Madeleine served on the Gay-Straight Alliance Network Youth Council her sophomore and junior years with the mission to encourage youth to be involved in LGBTQ+ activism. In her junior and senior years she became the youngest person to serve on the organization’s national board of directors.

Madeleine has been accepted into Stanford University.
