Fresno County schools receive Superintendent’s Model Arts Award
The Fresno County Office of Education awarded and recognized 22 schools for their high-quality arts education programs at the first-ever Superintendent’s Model Arts Award on March 25. Schools received awards based upon their quantity and quality of arts education programs.
“While accomplishments in festivals and arts competitions are important, we believe that the most important lessons that the arts teach are in the classroom with a great arts teachers,” said Fresno County Superintendent Jim Yovino.
In addition to the school awards, districts received a Bronze, Silver or Gold SMART District Award. FCOE Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator Robert Bullwinkel said, “It’s important to note that this award is about equity and access to a high-quality arts education for every student, in every school, every day.”
The SMART recognition program application is available to all schools in Fresno County. Please call (559) 265-3098 for more information on how to submit a school for consideration.
