FCOE Hosts 9th Annual Professional Development Conference
Fresno County Office of Education’s Annual Support Staff Conference was created nine years ago to offer administrative professionals a full day of professional development and to recognize their contributions in the workplace. The one-day conference equips front-line staff with latest skills, tools and confidence to meet the fast-changing challenges faced by organizations today. This year’s event, with 287 registered participants, included breakout sessions covering topics on retirement and health benefits, simple tips and techniques on how to get organized at work and home, and a workshop on financial software. A panel discussion during lunch titled, “Partnering with Your Boss: How to Be a Success!” featured administrators sharing candid thoughts on what makes for a magical alliance between boss and administrative assistant.
Also during the luncheon, Linda Cox Murphy, Legal Secretary II from FCOE’s Legal Services Department, was named Administrative Professional of the Year. The APY award program was created in 2007 and recognizes outstanding performance of one administrative professional who demonstrates continued commitment to leadership, teamwork, education and operational efficiency, and who also provides meaningful contributions to the overall organization.
Other highlights of the day included a vendor fair made up of 42 valley businesses offering services and products from the unique to the extraordinary in business products, healthy living, fashion and accessories. To learn more about the conference visit their website: http://ssc2012.fcoe.org/
