Students race to the finish at Scout Island Adventure Challenge

The Fresno County Office of Education’s Safe & Healthy Kids department hosted the 11th Annual Student Adventure Challenge Race on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Scout Island. Sixty high school teams totaling 240 students competed in the three-mile race, which included 10 challenges. Every year, the race’s theme changes and is tied to world history. This year’s theme was Mesoamerica.

The goal of the race is to get students physically active, challenge them in creative ways that test them in common academic areas. The race included elements of physical fitness, risk taking and communication and problem-solving skills. Trophies were given to the top three teams.
