Dare to Dream

Dare to dream (D2D) is a *research based service learning program and one of five exemplary service-learning programs recommended by the California Department of Education. D2D is designed to teach and empower the hearts and minds of students to:

  • Set goals for academic excellence;
  • Reach beyond themselves to others and their communities;
  • Continue to influence and inspire others through their actions.

D2D utilizes our Challenge Course at Scout Island to build a sense of trust, camaraderie and optimism between your students and adult leads. That energy is then harnessed to train your students to find their dreams, set real goals, and create a team vision that focuses that momentum on serving others. Big things come from this work when they return to their campuses, such as student organized:

  • Forums to address school dropout rates, obesity or bullying
  • Projects of community improvement, i.e. graffiti cleanup
  • Teams acting as advocates for change on their campuses and communities

*Research from CSU Fresno on D2D shows that 56% of participants raised their GPA one point in a year, and nearly 32% increased their conduct grade.
