Charter Schools Division
California passed legislation in 1992 establishing public charter schools. Public charter schools offer a variety of educational programs and approaches, such as specialized courses of study, a focus on specific curricular areas, a focus on special student populations, nontraditional school environments or schedules and various governance structures. The FCOE supports and collaborates with charter schools to provide services, programs and events that ensure a quality education for the children of Fresno County. Specific goals and operating procedures for the charter school are detailed in a legally binding agreement (or "charter") between the authorizing board and charter organizers.Typically, public charter schools are authorized by the public school district in which they are located.
We hope you find this website a valuable resource. By working together we can accomplish our mission to provide quality care and educational opportunities to our community’s most precious resource---our children.
